When we point the finger at others for what we are feeling and thinking, it’s an indication that we are trying to locate the responsibility for our present situation, happy or sad, outside of ourselves. This unconscious mechanism is a powerful motivator when there appears to be a path to happiness that is only achievable through another person. This is equally true when we play the role of the victim and blame others for our own sense of failure, frustration, or disappointment.
When we locate the source of happiness or disappointment outside of ourselves, we are being run by an invisible program that feels very personal but is only the ego doing what it does to try to make us feel safe, justified, or important.
So what is the value of the ego? Under certain conditions, it appears to protect us and at other times it blinds us to the deeper reasons that fuel our strongest motivations.
I enjoy words, writing and reading them. Mnemonic devices are ways to recall information that are helpful and fun. I came up with this sentence for projection using each letter of the word to make the following sentence:
PETULENT RUMINATIONS OVER JUSTIFYING EGO’S CLUELESS THOUGHTS IS ONLY NONSENSE.
Despite having some awareness of what it means to project, the humor in all of it is that I find myself projecting all the time. The joke is on me, and about me, with all the attention I give to my own thoughts!
We easily become obsessed, and tunnel visioned by our “petulant ruminations over justifying ego’s clueless thoughts.”
However, while we may be misguided or small minded that does not make us bad or evil. Clueless, silly, or foolish are more suitable descriptions. We realize that the power of the projection is strengthened and fueled by emotions based on a misperception. To believe that others create our reality reinforces limiting beliefs about being a hero or a victim. The next time you are experiencing strong emotions and repetitive thoughts (which you are accustomed to attributing to another person or a “situation”) perhaps you might instead think that it “is only nonsense” to make your reactions anything other than an invitation to look within yourself. The ego is an expert at getting your attention. Look deeper. Don’t make it about someone else. What is it telling you about you?
Whisperology is a powerful means to understand yourself at a deeper level by making you aware of your limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs interfere with the realization of your purpose and are the soil from which projections grow. Through its testing process (called Intention Based Field Resonance Testing) you will understand what is behind the projections and the other operations of the ego that are a hindrance to achieving what you really want in your life. Is it time to find your path?
